This week

• Friday, September 18: Career Transitions Expo in Burbank. The City of Burbank runs it from 12:30 to 4:30 PM at the University of Redlands campus in Burbank. It is free and 18+, but you must register in advance at cityofburbankjobfair.com, and it caps at about 225 people. Register today, bring more printed resumes than you think you need, and talk to the smaller companies too.
• Sunday, September 20: Armenian Independence Day Festival at Verdugo Park, Glendale. The next day, September 21, marks thirty-five years of independence. If you are looking for work, go and say it out loud: "Looking for work in ___. Know anyone?" If you are hiring, keep the role ready on your phone and take people's numbers instead of handing out cards.
• The Arpa International Film Festival reaches its 29th year. It has announced its official selections and nominations. Most of the jobs behind film are not in front of a camera: scheduling, accounting, transportation, catering, security, payroll. If you already do that work in another industry, write it on your resume in the industry's words.
• Two roles in steady demand. Clinics in Glendale and Burbank keep asking for bilingual medical and dental front desk staff, and families keep looking for caregivers and home health aides, especially ones who speak Armenian. Neither needs a degree. They hire on being organized, patient and dependable, and many caregiver roles will train you.
• Employers: try a paid trial shift. A few paid hours tell you more than three interviews. Tell the candidate up front what the trial is and how long it runs, and pay for their time every time.

Career Transitions Expo Բյուրբանքում։ Բյուրբանք քաղաքն այն անցկացնում է ժամը 12:30-ից 16:30, University of Redlands-ի Բյուրբանքի մասնաշենքում։ Անվճար է, 18+, բայց պարտադիր է նախապես գրանցվել՝ cityofburbankjobfair.com, և տեղերը մոտ 225 են։ Գրանցվեք այսօր, բերեք ավելի շատ տպված ռեզյումեներ, քան կարծում եք, և խոսեք նաև փոքր ընկերությունների հետ։

• Arpa միջազգային կինոփառատոնը նշում է իր 29-րդ տարին։ Այն հրապարակել է պաշտոնական ընտրանին և առաջադրումները։ Կինոն պահող աշխատանքների մեծ մասը տեսախցիկի առջև չէ՝ ժամանակացույց, հաշվապահություն, փոխադրումներ, սննդի սպասարկում, անվտանգություն, աշխատավարձի հաշվարկ։ Եթե այս աշխատանքն արդեն անում եք այլ ոլորտում, գրեք այն ձեր ռեզյումեում ոլորտի բառերով։
• Երկու աշխատանք, որոնք մշտապես պահանջված են։ Գլենդելի և Բյուրբանքի կլինիկաներն անընդհատ փնտրում են երկլեզու բժշկական և ատամնաբուժական ընդունարանի աշխատակիցներ, իսկ ընտանիքները փնտրում են խնամակալներ և տնային բուժօգնականներ, հատկապես հայերեն խոսողների։ Դիպլոմ պետք չէ։ Կարևորը կազմակերպված, համբերատար և վստահելի լինելն է, և խնամակալի շատ աշխատանքներ ձեզ կսովորեցնեն։
• Գործատուներ. փորձեք վճարովի փորձնական հերթափոխ։ Մի քանի վճարովի ժամն ավելին է ասում, քան երեք հարցազրույց։ Նախապես ասեք թեկնածուին, թե ինչ է փորձնական հերթափոխը և որքան է տևում, և վճարեք նրա ժամանակի համար՝ ամեն անգամ։
